Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They can run from LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for many uses. There are various facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they require. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that can be changed out when the machine needs to be refueled.
So as to prevent possible serious injury, certain safety measures must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be sure to wear the correct safety equipment such as heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Turn off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is firmly closed. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
